San Francisco State University
The San Francisco State Institution is a public research institution in San Francisco, also known as San Francisco State, SF State, and SFSU. The institution provides 118 distinct bachelor’s degrees, 94 master’s degrees, 5 doctoral degrees, and 26 teaching certificates among its six academic colleges as part of the 23-campus California State University system. It is listed as belonging to the category “R2: Doctoral Universities – High Research Activity”.
The university was established in 1899 as a state-run standard school to prepare teachers for public schools. In 1921, it was given state college status, and in 1972, it was given state university status. The 141-acre campus is situated less than 2 miles from the Pacific shore in the southwest of the city. At the NCAA Division II level, San Francisco State fielded 12 varsity athletic teams, the majority of which belonged to the California Collegiate Athletic Association. As a Hispanic-serving institution (HSI), San Francisco State is qualified to get the designation of Asian American Native American Pacific Island serving institution (AANAPISI).

Scholarship Goals
The Bay Area Gardener’s Scholarship Foundation works to support all diverse students in the Bay Area in achieving their educational goals by, among other things, holding open forums, conversations, panels, lectures, and workshops.
1) Candidate must reside in one of the three Bay Area Counties, Santa Clara, San Mateo, or San Francisco.
2) Candidate must provide evidence of financial need, such as a family tax return or recent pay stubs.
3) 50 hours of volunteer work for a non-profit organization or for Bay Area Gardener’s Foundation activities.
4) You must be the first member of your family to enroll in college.
5) Evidence of enrolment at a university or community institution that has been accredited.
6) Attend the banquet and take part in the ceremony for BAFG recognition.
7) As stated on the page, fulfill all other obligations to the Bay Area Gardners Scholarship Foundation.
8) Graduate students need to be registered for graduate coursework.
